Yesterday Septemeber 22nd, Her Majesty appeared as a special guest and granted an interview with ABC's Good Morning America 3 New York hosts Amy Robach and T.J Holmes.

During the interview, Her Majesty Queen Rania spoke on the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her attendance at the State Funeral. Her Majesty spoke about the close relations the Kingdom of Jordan have had with the late British Monarch. Jordan was a protectorate of the United Kingdom until the 60's.

She also spoke about how HM Queen Elizabeth II influenced leadership and her impartiality in taking or expressing political views on World Issues.

She spoke on how the late monarch advised her and was open to advising her as she too became a queen consort at the young age of 28 on how to juggle her many hats.

Then she discussed how misinformation affects the world and it is its greatest threat with how it influences our thinking process to align with misinform people without properly fact checking the news they consume.

She openly discussed about the refugees situation in Ukraine and how different the treatment between refugees in Ukraine and those in other countries like Syria

T.J Holmes and Amy Robach then congratulated Her Majesty on the engagement of her two eldest children TRH Crown Prince Hussein to Ms. Rajwa and Princess Iman to Jameel Alexander Thermiotis a few weeks ago.

Her Majesty expressed her joy and informed us indeed she is happy to be adding new children(children in laws) and how she is planning two marriages next year. She did inform us that both children are getting married next year 3 months after another. Which means Princess Iman may be getting married either in March or September with Crown Prince Hussein getting married in June.

She also added that she couldnt wait to be a grandmother and a good one at that.

Today September 21st, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah attended the Earthshot Innovation Summit organised by the Bloomberg Philanthropies during the Climate Week NYC hosted during the United Nations General Assembly.

Her Majesty in her duties as a member of the Council of the Earthshot Price founded in 2020 by the then Duke of Cambridge, HRH Prince William now HRH Prince William, Prince of Wales via through the Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge(now the Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales) made her remarks at the first-ever Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit held in New York on Wednesday on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly week. .

In her introduction, Her Majesty acknowledge the leadership of HRH The Prince of Wales and the influence his late grandmother HM Queen Elizabeth II's leadership and love for the environment as well as her advocacy leading to the creation of the Prize.

She also called for mobilizing collective action and ingenuity to repair the planet, and reaffirmed the transformative power of hope and innovation in the global climate battle.

Hosted by the UN Special Envoy on Climate Ambition and Solutions, Michael R. Bloomberg, and marking Climate Week in New York, the summit aims to showcase and highlight the impact of groundbreaking climate solutions, and connect the next generation of climate visionaries with influential world leaders.

Founded in 2020 by Prince William and The Royal Foundation, The Earthshot Prize is a global environmental prize and platform to discover, accelerate, and scale trailblazing eco-innovations to regenerate the planet.

Addressing heads of state, top environmental innovators, philanthropists, and prominent business leaders from across the world, Her Majesty cautioned that in this time of heightened volatility, “no one can afford to sit on the sidelines,” and “no one can claim that climate change is somebody else’s problem, or shrug it off for future generations to address.”

“We’re all affected by a warming planet, and decisions being made right now will determine our shared tomorrow. So, we must choose, and we must act as united nations,” she said.

Her Majesty stated that in order to fuel the global fight against climate change and accelerate progress, leaders must join forces and apply their collective ingenuity to repair the planet.

“If we stick together, we can make fixing the climate the greatest project, and greatest achievement, of our lifetimes,” she said.

The Queen explained that while the world is not short on climate science or solutions, it must rally the “political will” to build a safer, healthier, and more stable future.

In a call for unity, Her Majesty envisioned a future where clean, green development enhances the livability of communities, enables greater equity, and feeds a burgeoning global population.

Stressing the urgency of this crisis, the Queen also warned of the dire costs of climate inaction, which are “worse than any nightmare.”

“But let us be driven by hope, not fear, because hope is not passive. It is the ultimate source of renewable energy,” she said, adding that achieving carbon-neutrality can be a journey of innovation, fueled by a spirit of possibility and driven by faith in ourselves.

In addition to hosting finalists and winners of The Earthshot Prize, and celebrating their pioneering eco-innovations, The Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit featured panel discussions, and presentations spotlighting its five key pillars of climate solutions: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build A Waste-Free World, and Fix Our Climate.

Among those who spoke at the summit were Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern, co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Bill Gates, chair of The Earthshot Prize Christiana Figueres, and actor Matt Damon.

Designed to incentivize change, The Earthshot Prize is an annual prize that catalyzes an Earthshot challenge to urgently scale environmental innovations that can help put the world firmly on a trajectory towards a stable climate, where communities, oceans, and biodiversity thrive by 2030. The 2022 Earthshot Prize ceremony is set to take place in Boston later this year.

After departing the UK following the two day events commemorating the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, His Majesty accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein left for New York City, NY State USA to attend the 74th edition of United Nations General Assembly week

Like always during the UNGA week, Her Majesty attends various meetings and events surrounding this week and today September 20th, 2022, she attended the two- day event Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) 2022 meeting.

At today's opening event, Her Majesty sat down with Former US Secretary of State and First Lady who is also the founding patron of the Clinton Global Initiative, Hillary Clinton and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi where she urged Global Cooperation to intergrate refugees.

The Queen underscored the need for coordinated global action in helping the world’s expanding refugee population integrate into host communities, warning that there will be more refugee crises in the future.

Bringing highlights to Jordan’s experience as a refugee host nation, Her Majesty explained to the panel that Jordan’s government and leadership are “still as committed to supporting and integrating refugees into our society” as evident by the tens of thousands of work permits issued to Syrians lately.

Moderated by Secretary Clinton, the panel discussion aimed to explore means of fostering a sense of community and belonging in an increasingly unstable world, particularly in light of the ever-growing population of refugees and displaced people.

Her Majesty also underlined the positive sentiments Jordanian people have towards refugees. Citing a recent UNHCR survey which showed that “96% of Jordanians remained sympathetic to the plight of refugees” only three months ago, the Queen noted that the figure says a lot about “the value system in Jordan” where both government and people refuse to turn against or away from people who are seeking shelter and protection.

“It shows you that people inherently are good and they want to do the right thing if nobody is telling them to be fearful of the other,” she continued.

Stressing the crucial role Jordan’s open-arms policy plays in facilitating refugees’ social integration into the country, Her Majesty said that “ultimately home is not a place, it is people, and it’s very difficult to feel at home in a place where you feel unwelcome or unwanted.”

She went on to point out that a refugee crisis is “not just a short term humanitarian crisis,” but rather a “crisis of human development” that requires long-term solutions focusing on “growth, building resilience, sustainability,” and job creation.

Her Majesty also underlined that responsibility towards global refugees “is an obligation, not an option,” noting that while reform efforts in addressing the crisis necessitate merging humanitarian and development work, refugee response plans “are chronically underfunded all over the world” and “resettlement targets are insufficiently low.”

Elaborating on the global community’s weak refugee resettlement efforts, Her Majesty said that only a handful of high-income nations have carried their weight, while “amongst the vast majority, it's been a race to the bottom with the numbers they are willing to let in.”

The Queen also observed that as the world is prone to face recurring crises, “forced displacement is going to be an annual norm,” especially with World Bank predictions pointing to the possibility of climate refugees alone reaching over 200 million by 2050.

Sharing her thoughts on the recent Ukrainian refugee crisis, Her Majesty contrasted the world’s response to this crisis with its response to refugee crises of the past. “The disparity in the tone, generosity, and urgency that has been extended in welcoming the Ukrainian refugees compared to refugees from other areas of the world like Syria, or Sudan, or Myanmar, is quite striking,” she observed.

Her Majesty also shed light on the increased strain on humanitarian assistance resulting from the Ukrainian refugee crisis, condemning how “refugees from other parts of the world have really dropped down the priority list” and insisting that “humanity cannot be applied selectively.”

Highlighting the importance of leadership when it comes to addressing refugee crises, Her Majesty acknowledged the difficulty leaders face in balancing their “domestic agenda” with “global humanitarian obligations,” while denouncing the normalization of “fear of the other,” as an off-limits solution to shirk off responsibility towards refugees.

She argued that while it’s tempting for leaders to “use populist rhetoric and stoke the fear and anger towards the other, and keep people huddled up fearful of a dangerous world,” this approach is not capable of resolving problems. “That simplistic narrative of anger is easier than coming up with constructive solutions,” she explained.

Her Majesty concluded by saying that “confident, courageous, compassionate, and most importantly, honest” leadership is needed to properly integrate refugees into any society, adding, “if integrated properly, refugees can actually be net contributors” to their host communities.

Held alongside the 77th United Nations General Assembly Week, The Clinton Global Initiative was launched by U.S. President Bill Clinton in 2005 to turn ideas into action by creating a space where leaders across sectors could publicly commit to form partnerships and take action together. CGI brings together established and emerging global leaders to create and implement solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. This year’s meeting was the first reconvention since 2016.
