On Monday March 17th, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah hosted an Iftar banquet in Madaba governorate, accompanied by women who distinguished themselves in a variety of fields. 



She wished a blessed fast to those who mark Ramadan and Lent, highlighting Madaba's unique character describing it as a model of diversity, authenticity, and beauty, with a history spanning thousands of years.





 “Madaba’s iconic mosaics are more than just artifacts of this land’s history. They are also expressions of its present-day identity,” Queen Rania said. She noted that the governorate has been shaped by the generosity and warmth of its people, underscoring how men and women from different backgrounds have contributed to Madaba’s progress.

 On the occasion of the first day of the Holy month of Ramadan, Their Majesties accompanied by the children TRH Crown Prince Hussein and his wife HRH Princess Rajwa; Princess Iman and her husband Mr. Jameel Alexander; HRH Princess Salma hosted the annual first family Iftar meal with extended members of the Royal family to mark the end of the first fast of the next 40 days.

 On March 23rd 2023, His Majesty accompanied by Her Majesty Queen Rania, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein and Prince Hashem hosted the entire extended royal family for the first Iftar reception marking the end of Day 1 of Ramadan






The event was held at Al Husseinyia Palace in Amman. With the caption on Instagram, Queen Rania wrote:

The Holy Month of Ramadan 2023 began on March 22nd marking an entire month of observation by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting to commemorate the first revelation of the Quran to Muhammad according to Islamic belief. For Muslims, Ramadan is a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community.

On the occasion of the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan, HM King Abdullah II & HRH Crown Prince Hussein have received cables of best wishes from leaders of Arab and Muslim countries, as well as from senior officials and officers, and representatives of civil society organisations in the Kingdom.


HM King Abdullah II on Twitter: “مبارك حلول شهر رمضان الفضيل، أعاده الله على الأردن والأمتين العربية والإسلامية بالخير واليمن والبركات، وكل عام وأنتم بخير”



Queen Rania on Twitter wrote “هل شهر الخير، كل عام والجميع بصحة وسعادة Ramadan is upon us once more! May the holy month bring health and happiness to all”

 On Wednesday April 27th, Her Majesty hosted a group of local women for Iftar at the Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts.



Her Majesty was welcome by HRH Princess Wijdan Al- Hashemi who is the National Gallery of Fine Arts' patron and was accompanied by HRH Princess Ghida Talal who sits on the Board of Trustee.




She was accompanied by some other female members of the royal family notably, HRH Princess Rym Al Ali, HRH Princess Basma bint Ali, HRH Princess Nejla bint Asem and HRH Princess Sima Abbas.

 On Tuesday April 26th, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah hosted at the Jordan University for Science and Technology, a group of local women over Iftar where she commended the attendees for their contributions to local society.



Held in the governorate of Irbid, the Iftar brought together a number of women from Irbid who are active in education, media, culture, social welfare, and volunteer work.




Before breaking fast, the Queen expressed her admiration for the warmth and pleasant company of the people of Irbid, as well as its natural scenery. “I am happy to be with you today. Thank you for your warm welcome,” Her Majesty said. “Irbid is known for its beauty in the spring. I love coming here,” she added. 




Speaking to the women after Iftar, Her Majesty applauded their accomplishments and substantial contributions to local efforts in educational and social development.




“Your hard work is a reflection of your excellence and altruism,” she said.





In turn, the Governor of Irbid, Radwan Outoum thanked Queen Rania for her kind invitation, stating that this occasion reflects the deep bond between Jordan’s leadership and its people.


He also noted that Her Majesty’s pride in Irbid’s women provides a great incentive for them to do more for their country and people.

 His Majesty King Abdullah II briefly joined Her Majesty Queen Rania at an Iftar which she was hosting on Wednesday(April 6) night for a group of accomplished Jordanian youth representatives at Al Husseinieh Palace.



Their Majesties mingled with the attendees, who are active in the fields of entrepreneurship, media, social welfare, and volunteer work, and expressed their unwavering pride in Jordan’s diligent youth and their myriad of accomplishments.
