Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah presented the Queen Rania Award for Excellence in Education (QRAEE) to the winners of the 2022-2023 cycle at an event held at the Royal Cultural Palace in Amman on Wednesday.

Her Majesty presented trophies and certificates to the recipients of the 17th edition of the Distinguished Teachers Awards, the fifth edition of the Distinguished School Counsellors Awards, and the third edition of the Excellence-Supporting Directorates Awards in her capacity as chairperson of QRAEE's board of trustees, in recognition of their exceptional contributions to education in Jordan.

The QRAEE Association received 6,210 applications this year, with 5,969 from teachers and 241 from school counsellors. The Distinguished Teacher Award was given to 18 teachers, and the Distinguished School Counsellor Award was given to two counsellors. Furthermore, 15 teachers and four school counsellors were recognised at the national level, while 14 teachers and one school counsellor were recognised at the directorate level.

For their efforts to spread a culture of quality and encourage educators to apply for the awards, the educational directorates of Bani Obaid, Al Qweismeh, and Busaira were each awarded a quality-Supporting Directorates Award. QRAEE, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, presented the winning directorates with certificates of appreciation as well as non-monetary incentives.

Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, Minister of Education, spoke at the occasion and emphasised the ministry's important collaboration with QRAEE, which strives to promote and develop the culture of excellence in education and improve society's appreciation for the teaching profession.

"The Ministry of Education takes pride in several significant accomplishments, such as implementing measures to revitalise the role of winners within their directorates, resulting in a concrete and noticeable impact in the field of education," stated Dr. Mahafzah. "In addition, QRAEE's databases and reports have proven to be reliable resources, assisting the Ministry in the development of professional development programmes for teachers and school counsellors."

Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah paid a visit to Ghor Al Safi in Al Karak Governorate on Wednesday February 22nd, where she met with the board of directors of the Ghor Al Safi Women's Association for Social Development and a number of its beneficiaries.

At the meeting, the president of the association, Nayfeh Al Nawasra, and the president of the Community Centers Associations, Firyal Saleh, briefed Her Majesty on the organization's accomplishments, plans, and numerous projects, including one of its primary initiatives, Safi Crafts.

Safi Crafts, which began in 1999, is an embroidery and fabric-dyeing enterprise that attempts to produce clothing produced from locally obtained fabrics and natural dyes that resemble designs inspired by the region's rich tradition.

Safi Crafts began farming indigo without the use of chemicals and pesticides in 2013, with cooperation from the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Swiss organization, the Drosos Foundation. Safi Crafts also started scouring the country for species from which to extract natural colours. In addition to fabric dyeing, Safi Crafts provides its beneficiaries with opportunities to learn bookkeeping, marketing, and English.

The Queen visited the association and viewed the cloth dyeing and drawing processes before stopping by a sewing workshop. Her Majesty also met with other recipients, who told her about their experiences and involvement with the organization, emphasizing the great influence it has had on their lives.

Basma Al Khanazra, one of the beneficiaries Her Majesty met, used the association's revolving fund to create a home-based business selling garments and household equipment. Al Khanazra's company grew over time to include homemade culinary items like as pickles, jams, and sundried tomatoes, and she began spending her income in developing her husband's property. Her Majesty also spoke with Nzeileh Al Oushoush, another revolving fund loan recipient who began her own home-based dairy venture.

On Monday January 16th, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah paid a visit to the House of Roses Ladies Association in Aqaba, where she met with a group of local women artists and home-based business owners.

The House of Roses Ladies Association, located near a number of popular Aqaba hotels, serves as a permanent exhibition space for its members to display and advertise their items to local and international visitors. Traditional handicrafts, ceramics, culinary products, and other handmade things are available.

In a meeting with its management team, Association President Rania Nes'ah informed Her Majesty that the House of Roses was founded in the aftermath of the COVID-19 epidemic to assist suffering owners of home-based projects in regaining their footing.

It not only provides a platform for community members to sell their wares, but it also provides training to women and persons with disabilities in order to help them develop marketable skills and increase their income.

The association also provides travelers with a variety of unique local experiences, such as sewing and crafting their own products or learning to make local specialties in the association's kitchen.

During her visit, the Queen went on a tour of the House of Roses' shop, warehouse, and kitchen before stopping in its backyard to see an exhibition of crafts inspired by the particular character of Aqaba and a demonstration of the various tourism experiences the organization has to offer.

On Wednesday October 12th, Her Majesty Queen Rania paid a visit to the Al Abdali Boulevard offices of the Makesy mobile application, which supports regional designers, embroiderers, seamstresses, and makers of clothing by connecting them to e-commerce opportunities in the domestic and global fashion industry.

Her Majesty heard from Saeed Omar, the founder of Makesy, during the meeting about the ideas that went into creating the app, which will go live in 2021. By offering designs that are carried out by talented local tailors, the startup hopes to lessen people's reliance on fast fashion and give customers the ability to customize their orders. Customers can do this by uploading images and sketches of their proposed design concepts to the app, where Makesy will then track and monitor the production process carried out by neighborhood artisans and seamstresses.

The program currently collaborates with over 650 talented artisans from all over the nation who are certified in a variety of crafts, including knitting, crocheting, embroidery, beading, weaving, and more. Additionally, Makesy makes sure that the right artisans are chosen to complete each order by taking into account the order's budget, the artisan's level of expertise, and the client's location.

Makesy currently collaborates with 115 fashion designers, retailers, and business owners across 3 continents. The startup has also been successful in securing employment opportunities for 45 women who have received certification from the Bayt Al Khayt academy, an artisanal educational project started in 2010 to support local artisans by improving their economic circumstances and skill sets. The school offers diploma programs in seven different disciplines, including design, crocheting, embroidery, macramé, and home-based business.
