His Majesty inaugurated on Sunday the third ordinary session of the 18th Parliament and delivered the annual Speech from the Throne.

His Majesty arrive at parliament with HRH Crown Prince Hussein. Upon his arrival he reviewed the guard of honor as a military band played the national anthem and an artillery unit fired a 21-gun salute welcoming the monarch.


This year opening ceremony was attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein, a number of royal family members, the prime minister, and government officials.



Members of the royal family who attended where: TRH: Princess Alia bint Hussien, Prince Feisal and his wife Princess Zeina Al Feisal, Prince Ali, His cousins and their spouses: TRH: Prince Asem with his wife Princess Sana, Prince Talal and his wife Princess Ghida Talal, Prince Raad with his wife Princess Majda, Princess Badiya bint EL Hussein with her husband Alaa Batayeh, Prince Rashid, Prince Mired, Princess Ayah bint Al Feisal with her husband Mohammad Halawani.



His Majesty began his speech with a salutation to fellow Jordanians by saying “the great, patient, determined and dedicated Jordanian people”, noting that the nation needs their energies “to fulfil its highest potential”.

Unfortunately during the year Jordan experience a lot of things including economic instability, an increase in corruption and in reference to that His Majesty said: the “process of development in Jordan, as in other countries, has been marred by some mistakes and challenges, which we must learn from”.


He continued and stressed that “countries are not built on cynicism and self-doubt, nor by undermining or denying achievements. They are built by knowledge, determination, and hard work”.

“Jordanians deserve much more, especially in terms of health, education, and transport services. Therefore, the Government must work to enhance the quality of these services, and all employees at public institutions must take pride in serving Jordanians,” His Majesty said.

Underlining that Jordan will not allow the selective implementation of the law, the King affirmed that “corruption will not be left unaddressed to become a chronic social illness”.

His Majesty also stressed state institutions’ capabilities to uproot corruption, noting the importance of enhancing oversight bodies and ensuring accountability.

Their Majesties welcomed Their Excellencies Federal President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen and First Lady Doris Schmidauer visited Jordan earlier today for a bilateral talks with Their Majesties 

For this visit, Her Majesty wore a chic look. For blouse she wore Maison Makarem iconic short sleeve Balloon Shirt.
