Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah will celebrate another year in public service alongside His Majesty King Abdullah II on Thursday, August 31st.

The Hashemites and their larger Jordanian family have celebrated a number of joyous occasions in the past year, including His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein's wedding, Her Royal Highness Princess Iman bint Abdullah II's wedding, Her Royal Highness Princess Salma bint Abdullah II's university graduation, and His Royal Highness Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II's high school graduation.

Their Majesties the King and Queen were keen to share their joy with the Jordanian people in the days and weeks leading up to their children's weddings, involving the Jordanian public in the many events honouring the marriages of their first-born son and eldest daughter.

Her Majesty hosted a Henna party for Princess Iman, as well as a dinner party in honour of the Crown Prince's wife, Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa Al Hussein, at which the Queen and members of the royal family were joined by women from Jordan's 12 governorates. Both concerts celebrated Jordanian culture and included folkloric musical and dance performances by local female performers.

Throughout the year, Queen Rania continued to follow up on matters of concern to Jordanians by visiting charitable organisations, home-based enterprises, startups, and other organisations in Jordan's cities, towns, and rural areas.

Her Majesty's local activities included talks with women artisans and young entrepreneurs, as well as visits to a number of women-led initiatives and groups that encourage women's financial development.

During the holy month of Ramadan in March, the Queen organised a trip to Umrah - the lesser Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca - for 500 women from Jordan, a group of which the Queen joined to complete the sacred journey personally.  Previously, in December 2022, Her Majesty participated in the lighting of the Fuheis Christmas tree with Jordan's Christian minority.

Along with her activities in Jordan, Queen Rania attended several important worldwide events and accompanied His Majesty on a number of regional and international working tours over the year.

Queen Rania attended a reception at Buckingham Palace in London at the request of Her Majesty Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom to raise awareness of violence against women and girls. She also met with US First Lady Dr. Jill Biden at the White House when on a visit to Washington, D.C. with His Majesty and Crown Prince Al Hussein.

During her visit to Washington, D.C., the Queen delivered the keynote address at the 2023 National Prayer Breakfast (NPB) Gathering's International Luncheon on Capitol Hill, where she stated that religion is not "a shelter for hiding," but rather "a launch pad for living." She also said that, in the face of widespread polarisation, prayer might lead us to a better, more nuanced route known as "the third way."

"This third way is not the average of the extremes, but rises above the binary, elevating us to higher ground that can become common ground as well," she explained. "Our victory does not have to be someone else's loss." And being correct does not imply that the opposing viewpoint is incorrect — only that we require various points of view to see a multidimensional picture."

The Queen also appeared at the 2023 Web Summit in Lisbon, Portugal, where she emphasised the dangers of humanity's growing reliance on technology. "I am concerned that we are undervaluing the most valuable currency of all," Her Majesty added. "I'm concerned that, even as virtual reality improves by the day, we're ignoring the needs of our real world."

The Queen spoke as a member of the Earthshot Prize Council at the first-ever Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit, which was held in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

In her speech, Her Majesty urged the mobilisation of collective action and innovation to heal the earth, cautioning against stating that "climate change is somebody else's problem," or leaving it to future generations to address.

This year, Queen Rania used her global platform to advocate for refugees in Jordan and around the world. Her Majesty stated at the Clinton Global Initiative summit in New York that a refugee crisis is "not just a short-term humanitarian crisis," but rather a "crisis of human development" that necessitates long-term solutions centred on growth, resilience, sustainability, and job creation.

Furthermore, the Queen regularly emphasised differences in the treatment of refugees based on their country of origin. Speaking at the Paris Peace Forum, she compared the reception of refugees from Ukraine to those from Syria, Myanmar, and South Sudan, all of whom had been driven from their homes.

"What explains the disparity in compassion?" "Does skin colour make a difference?" she inquired.

In May, Queen Rania and King Abdullah attended the coronation ceremonies of King Charles III and Queen Camilla in London. Their Majesties also attended the late Queen Elizabeth II's burial on September 2022.

In the first picture, Her Majesty was in Idaho for the Sun-Valley Forum were she wore her LOUIS VUITTON short-sleeved jacket

In the second picture, she was seen wearing TALLER MARMO Mrs. Hall green open-back belted crepe kaftan

On Wednesday August 30th, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah paid a visit to Firyal Kofahi's home-based kitchen in Irbid's Hawar village as part of her efforts to support and highlight economic empowerment options for women.

Her Majesty was greeted by Firyal Kofahi and her husband, Ahmad Dahadha, and spoke with Kofahi about the origins of her kitchen, its growth over the years, and her future goal for the business. Kofahi's kitchen presently employs ten women, some of them are Syrian refugees who have been educated by Kofahi herself in the preparation of traditional Jordanian foods.

Speaking to the Queen about her achievement, Kofahi told Her Majesty that in 2015, she applied for a grant from USAID's Jordan Local Enterprise Support Project, which she utilised to manage a full-fledged kitchen that employed a significant number of community women. Kofahi was able to send her eight children to university and help local women earn a living and learn a range of culinary skills thanks to the income from the kitchen.

Kofahi went on to tell Her Majesty that the COVID-19 outbreak had caused her to close her old kitchen, which catered to local clients as well as university students and employees, and conduct her business from home.

Her Majesty also spoke with the women who work with Kofahi in the kitchen, who recounted their stories and the impact their work has had on improving their livelihoods. The Queen then gave Kofahi financial assistance to help expand the kitchen and hire more community men and women.

Following that, the Queen assisted the ladies in creating a traditional Jordanian dish, Makmoura, an experience offered to tourists visiting Kofahi's home, and she examined some of the women's homemade products and food items. In honour of Her Majesty's forthcoming birthday, Kofahi and her team presented her with a home-baked cake and expressed their delight in meeting her, as well as their gratitude for her ongoing support and encouragement.

Kofahi's kitchen has helped draw attention to Hawar's beauty and keep the local culinary culture alive by serving real, home-style cuisine from the north of Jordan and producing a vast assortment of traditional food items including appetisers and sweets.
