 On Monday, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah joined Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain for a visit to Patrimonio Nacional employment workshops at the Royal Palace of Madrid, while accompanying His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Royal Highness Prince Hashem bin Abdullah on an official visit to Spain.


Patrimonio Nacional, a historical-cultural agency managed by the Spanish government, is in charge of the preservation of a large collection of assets representing Spain's rich national heritage. It also organises cultural, educational, and scientific events, like as training and accreditation possibilities through the Patrimonio Nacional School and Employment Workshops Programme.


Their Majesties were welcomed by Ana de la Cueva, President of Patrimonio Nacional, and began their visit at a woodworks workshop, where they were briefed on the Patrimonio Nacional School and Employment Workshops Programme. The program's goal is to give students with career possibilities and training in a variety of historical-artistic trades that are in great demand in the local labour market.


Their Majesties also visited a bookbinding workshop, where students and teachers were reproducing manuscripts and restoring book covers and artwork, before visiting a saddlery workshop, where they learned about saddle maintenance and restoration.


Over 5,000 students have been educated by Patrimonio Nacional in 20 various skills, including gardening, carpentry, stonework, upholstery, gilding, saddlery, artistic bookbinding, watchmaking, and historical tailoring.


24 buildings and over 160,000 historical-artistic works, including paintings, sculptures, tapestries, gold and silver artefacts, archives, musical instruments, and furniture, are among the institution's current conservation initiatives and projects.


Patrimonio Nacional is also in charge of preserving Spain's natural legacy, which includes 22,000 hectares of historical gardens, woodlands, and other natural places, as well as a vast number of wild species.

 His Majesty King Abdullah emphasised Jordan's desire to collaborate with Spain during its next European Union presidency to assist develop a political vision that would safeguard the possibilities of just and lasting peace for Palestinians and Israelis.



"Our joint commitment to peace is evident in supporting the two-state solution as the path forward in resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict," King Abdullah stated during a meeting with King Felipe VI of Spain in Madrid, attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah and Her Majesty Queen Letizia.



His Majesty stated at the meeting, which was also attended by His Royal Highness Prince Hashem bin Abdullah II, that peace based on the two-state solution is critical to securing peace and prosperity in the area and beyond.





"We will continue to work with Spain to resolve the crises confronting our larger Euro-Mediterranean region, because we all believe that dialogue and cooperation are the only ways forward for mutual progress," the King concluded.


Furthermore, His Majesty stated that Jordan and Spain are taking a vital step ahead in developing ties, realising that "the only way forward is together." We cannot handle the numerous difficulties confronting our globe on our own."


The King added that much has changed in the world in the eight years since his last visit to Spain, and that despite crises, conflicts, and the pandemic, the relationship and warm friendships "between our families, our peoples, and our countries have remained true, and have continued to grow from strength to strength."


"It is such collaborations that lay the groundwork for global stability, which is desperately needed in our regions and around the world." "And today, this visit is yet another stepping stone in cementing this relationship, which has grown over the last seven decades," His Majesty stated.


The King emphasised the fruitful discussions he had with King Felipe VI and President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sánchez, and stated that he is looking forward to the two countries starting a strategic alliance.


His Majesty stated that raising Jordan-Spain relations to a strategic level will allow both nations to engage more closely on topics that are important to both peoples and the world.

 On May 24th 2023, Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania accompanied by HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein, HRH Princess Iman and Mr. Jameel Thermiotis, and HRH Princess Salma with HRH Prince Hashem at his graduation from King’s Academy in Madaba, Jordan.




Also attending where the graduates' paternal family notably: their grandmother HRH Princess Muna, uncles and father HRH Prince Feisal and HRH Prince Ali who's daughter Princess Jalila was also graduating: aunties TRH Princesses Aisha and Zein with cousin Aoun Juma.

Princess Jalila, eldest daughter of Prince Ali bin Al Hussein also receieve her diploma from her uncle & school founder, King Abdullah II of Jordan at the same ceremony as her cousin, Prince Hashem bin Abdullah. Her proud father publishes a series of photos of the happy day with a short essay dedicated to her & her classmates:

 Jordan's Princess Salma has graduated from the University of Southern California!



The third child of Jordan's King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, known as "Salma Al Abdullah II" in school, graduates from the University of Southern California (USC) on 12 May 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Archaeology and a minor in Classics. As the princess of Jordan's Hashemite Kingdom, her typical USC cardinal and gold sash has the national flag stitched onto it. Her parents will attend the 140th Commencement Ceremony, which begins at 8:30 a.m. at Alumni Memorial Park.

Princess Salma receives her Bachelor of Arts degree in Archaeology and a minor in Classics from the University of Southern California (USC) on May 12th, 2023. Her parents, Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, as well as her elder sister HRH Princess Iman and her husband Jameel Thermiotis, attend the graduation ceremony.




At the same occasion, Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan mingle with former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle before taking their seats at the University of Southern California's 140th Commencement on May 12, 2023, at Alumni Memorial Park. Both sets of parents are proud to watch their daughters, Princess Salma and Sasha Obama, graduate with Bachelor degrees in Archaeology and Sociology, respectively.

 Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah paid a visit to the governorate of Ajloun on Wednesday May 18th, where she met with members of the Ajloun Ladies Charity Association's board of directors and beneficiaries.




During her visit, the Queen visited an income-generating enterprise as part of a financial empowerment initiative for low-income families developed with the Jordan River Foundation's (JRF) support and funded by a Royal Hashemite Court (RHC) revolving fund.




After being welcomed by the association's President, Nadia Al Rabadi, board members updated the Queen on their activities, issues, and future goals. Through activities aimed at fostering a safe and healthy environment in the governorate, the association aspires to financially empower Ajloun's women and girls while also raising awareness about environmental and health concerns.




Her Majesty met over breakfast at Al Bayt Al Reefi with beneficiaries, including those funded by the RHC revolving fund, at the association.





The RHC revolving fund has sponsored the creation of a financial empowerment programme for low-income families operated by the Ajloun Ladies Charity Association through JRF.



Through financing and training, the initiative intends to improve the financial and living situations of low-income families with the help of local civic groups. The initiative also assists families in establishing and improving their own money-generating projects in order to provide a more sustainable source of income.


The project's financing will be managed by ten civil society groups. The groups were given a JOD 59,500 revolving fund and were trained to administer it on their behalf of recipients communities.

Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania on Tuesday afternoon, spent a few hours  with students at the Academy for the Blind in Tabarbour. The Academy is affiliated with the Ministry of Education.

Their Majesties engages with the students spoke about projects they designed and executed at the academy’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics lab for students with visual disabilities, the first of its kind in the region. Their projects include electric circuit design and implementation, robot design, and using chess to teach mathematics to students with visual disabilities.

After the academy’s director, Abdelmunem Dweiri gave a briefing to Their Majesty stating that the latest education technology was used to provide a suitable learning environment for students with visual disabilities across the Kingdom, from first to 12th grade.

A total of 295 students—20 of whom live on the premises—are currently enrolled in the academy, which includes 34 classrooms and employs 153 staff members, 101 of them are teachers, including 55 teachers with visual disabilities, according to Dweiri.

Established in 2011 upon royal directives, the academy is the only such institution dedicated to serving students with visual disabilities. It rehabilitates students and offers psychological and healthcare services, and also prints education ministry curricula in Braille for blind students in Jordan.

During the visit, Their Majesties also stopped at an exhibition of paintings by students, supervised by artist Suhail Baqaeen, who initiated the “Colour Reader” programme to teach students to use their sense of smell to identify colours and create artwork.
