Day 2 in Japan

On Monday, Their Majesties began a 2 day working visit to the country of the rising sun Japan where they began their visit with a curtesy call to the Japanese Imperial Sovereign couple and their heirs respectively.


On Tuesday, His Majesty held a round of meetings as well as had talks with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. His Majesty first met with Foreign Minister Taro Kono with whom they discussed Jordanian-Japanese relations and the latest developments in the Middle East.

He also noted of the close and long diplomatic ties amongst both countries and also covered a number of regional issues, foremost of which is the need to push the peace process forward.

Following that meeting, His Majesty accompanied by Her Majesty went to the Prime Ministry and were received by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his wife Mrs. Akie Abe.

His Majesty was welcome with official welcoming ceremony at the Prime Ministry in Tokyo. Where they reviewed a guard of honor as a military band played the national anthem of both countries.

Following that talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Tokyo with focused on opportunities to advance political and economic cooperation, and bolster the strategic partnership between Japan and Jordan.


Both men affirmed their commitment to developing bilateral ties and maintaining coordination and consultation over issues of mutual concern, in service of the two peoples.

Following the talks, they witnessed the signing of an agreement for a $300 million development policy loan presented by the Japanese government over three years to support Jordan’s budget.

The King and Abe also witnessed the signing of a bilateral investment treaty to promote and protect investments.
 His Majesty was accompanied by his nephew His Royal Highness Prince Omar bin Al Feisal and senior officials on both sides, also covered developments in the Middle East, as well as Jordanian-Japanese cooperation in countering terrorism.

His Majesty accompanied by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, visited the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force Camp Narashino on Tuesday and attended a military exercise.

Following the meeting Prime Minister Abe and Mrs Akie Abe hosted an official dinner in honour of Their Majesties King Abdullah and Queen Rania Al Abdullah, and the accompanying delegation.


Her Majesty had earlier met with Mrs Abe and discussed a number of issues related to education and the rights of children
