On Monday February 21st, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah paid a visit to the Amman Governorate's East Thuheibeh neighborhood, where she met with leaders and beneficiaries of a local charity society backed by the Royal Hashemite Court (RHC) revolving fund.

Her Majesty was greeted at the Al Ahd and Al Ittifaq Charitable Society's offices by its president, Farhan Al Methhan, before meeting members of the society's board of directors, who informed her on the society's accomplishments and future plans.

The association runs a variety of economic and social projects and activities, producing local jobs to help the East Thuheibeh community.

During the meeting, Her Majesty praised the board members for their hard work and devotion to bettering their communities, saying that their efforts demonstrate their "strong commitment to the virtues of solidarity, cooperation, and charity."

The RHC-supported money is distributed to members of the community by Al Ahd and Al Ittifaq Charitable Society, in conjunction with the Jordan River Foundation, with the goal of empowering local inhabitants to begin their own income-generating initiatives and better their livelihoods.

In addition, she visited with some of the society's beneficiaries, who informed her on their income-generating initiatives.

"These businesses have thrived because they address the requirements of your communities," Her Majesty explained. She also credited their achievement to the recipients' tenacity and prudent management, noting that their efforts had resulted in opportunities.

During her visit to East Thuheibeh, she visited the area's single water purification facility, which offers filtered and ozone-treated tap water to the whole town. She also went to a few neighborhood houses, where she met with some women who are the breadwinners for their families.

The Al Ahd and Al Ittifaq Charitable Society, founded in 2013, is a multidisciplinary organization that strives to strengthen local families by providing assistance to poor students and the disabled, encouraging water and environmental conservation, and conducting vocational training sessions.
