Her Majesty at the Bloomberg Equality Summit

 On March 17th, Her Majesty virtually attended the Bloomberg Equality Summit where she raised the alarm on the huge spike in growing inequality especially due to this pandemic, Vaccine Nationalism and urged everyone to “radical change” to fight extreme poverty, which has risen globally for the first time in two decades as the pandemic exacerbated inequality.

Organised by Bloomberg Philanthropy with theme for the fourth edition ‘From Words to Action," Her Majesty in a Marni asymmetric ruffle blouse in pot red sat down with Bloomberg Editor-at-large Francine Lacqua to share her thoughts on how the pandemic had created a bigger hole and how it is affecting the growing inequality especially pertaining to health and wealth gap.

Amongst many things Her Majesty had said during the interview, she said, "I think the moment for radical change has arrived,” on discussing the wealth gap, pointing out that extreme poverty is on the rise for the first time in two decades, worser that what World War II had had. 

On how Covid has relieved and widen inequalities and injustice in health care, job opportunities, and more, “Clearly the system is not working.”

"The crisis has underscored the interconnectedness of the world, but also the unequal ways different groups have been affected," she told Francine

On how corporations could change their business models during this time, "Corporate citizenship cannot be about isolated initiatives, it needs to be part-and-parcel of the business model and ethos,"

She also advocated for more and better workplace flexibility and paid leave to help elevate women who have been greatly prejudice and left aside of discussions since the pandemic began, as well as for more and better investment in infrastructure that would aid with children’s remote learning. 

She said that, "The pandemic has worsened the education gap for developing countries, as areas such as the Middle East saw about 40% of children cut off from education,"
