Their Majesties thanks Jack Ma for the medical relief
In a joint phone call made on April 5th 2020, Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah expressed their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Chinese philanthropist, businessman and Alibaba's founder, Jack Ma for the medical supplies and equipment donation to support Jordan’s healthcare sector and the country’s efforts to combat the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
According to the Royal Court, Jack Ma through the Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation, donated a support package which had 100,000 virus detection kits, 30 BiPAP machines, 300,000 medical face masks, 50 infrared thermometer guns and 10,000 sets of protective clothing to be used by medical personnels.
The medical supplies, particularly the detection kits, will be of great value in Jordan, in order to expand and increase the extensive testing which has proven worldwide to be an effective strategy to confront COVID-19 and is in line with World Health Organisation guidelines.
In her message on Instagram, The Queen remembered Jack Ma's generosity especially during his May 7th 2018 visit to the Kingdom where he visited the Queen Rania Foundation for Education and Development, where he had the opportunity to learn more about its digital learning platform, Edraak and donated $3 million grant towards education in Jordan
Her Majesty was later hosted by Jack Ma on a returned visit to China on September 2018 where she visited Alibaba's Headquarters, participated in the XIN Philanthropy Conference hosted by Jack Ma and the Alibaba Foundation, in Hangzhou, China
Her Majesty's message:
أستذكر زيارة السيد جاك ما إلى الأردن عام 2018، عرفناه صادقاً في مواقفه وعطائه، وله الشكر على تبرعه السخي بمستلزمات ومعدات طبية دعماً لجهود الأردن في محاربة فيروس كورونا. رغم شح الموارد، فالأردن غني بأهله المعطاء وبأصدقائه من شتى أنحاء العالم الذين يقفون معه في مثل هذه الظروف الصعبة

Back in 2018 when Jack Ma visited Jordan... We were moved then by his kindness and largeness of heart, and are thankful again for his incredibly gracious donation of medical equipment and supplies to support Jordan's efforts in combatting COVID-19. Despite limited resources, Jordan is blessed with its people and with friends and partners from around the world who stand by us during trying times
