Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah attended the Women Rise for All Luncheon on the sidelines of the 78th annual United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York on Monday September 18th.
The event was hosted by Amina J. Mohammed, the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General (DSG), who created the Women Rise for All project in 2020 to highlight the importance of women's leadership in attaining the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The lunch, which is set to become an annual event, brought together roughly 90 female leaders from various sectors, including heads of state and government, civil society and international organisations, and the commercial sector, to celebrate and recognise women leaders everywhere.
The event featured conversations with former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Melinda French Gates, Co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and was attended by other high-profile visitors, including Her Majesty Queen Mathilde of Belgium and HRH Princess Mabel of the Netherlands.
