On February 04th 2025, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, accompanied by Italian First Lady Laura Mattarella, paid a visit to the 'Jordan: Dawn of Christianity' exhibition at the Palazzo della Cancelleria in Rome on Tuesday, where she encouraged Europeans to visit Jordan and discover its rich legacy.

The month-long exhibition, held under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II, is a collaboration between Jordan's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Jordan Tourism Board, and the Vatican.

Her Majesty and the Italian First Lady inspected the exhibition, which included 90 artefacts from over 30 distinct archaeological sites in Jordan, with the goal of highlighting the country's historical relevance to Christianity.

Queen Rania of Jordan has invited visitors to an exhibition commemorating 30 years of diplomatic ties between the country and the Holy See. The exhibition showcases Jordan's exceptional cultural wealth and its thriving Christian community, one of the oldest in the world. The Queen praised Jordan's hospitality and the rich history of its ancient civilizations. The displays trace the evolution of Christianity in Jordan across various time periods, from the baptism of Christ to the present Hashemite era.

According to Her Majesty's website, "The exhibition also features artifacts from five pilgrimage sites in Jordan, including Mount Nebo, the memorial of Prophet Moses; Tel Mar Elias, the birthplace of Prophet Elijah; Our Lady of the Mountain Church, a shrine commemorating Mother Mary; Machaerus, the site of John the Baptist’s martyrdom; and the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ.

Coinciding with the Vatican’s Holy Jubilee Year under the theme ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ and featuring archeological items never before displayed outside of Jordan, the exhibition aims to serve as an open invitation for the world to explore Jordan’s spiritual and cultural treasures and its rich biblical landscape.

Her Majesty also visited several of the society's facilities and workshops, including the kitchen, counseling room, and sewing and fabric-recycling facility, and viewed a range of products manufactured by the beneficiaries.

Al Nashmiyat Charitable Society for Women Empowerment, founded in 2018, aspires to promote the role of Jordanian women in their communities and across many industries through economic empowerment programs and workshops. Its goals include preparing Jordanian young for financial independence, supporting developmental and educational programs, providing financial and non-financial aid to impoverished families, and providing psychosocial support to children and adolescents.

Since its foundation, the club has spearheaded various projects, including a sewing workshop that trained 30 women. The organization has also developed 'Dalili,' an online counseling portal for students administered by 30 young men and women who have received psychosocial support training.

Furthermore, the group built 'Qalb Amman II,' a company development incubator with the goal of enhancing the employability and entrepreneurial abilities of youth. The group is also doing a fabric-recycling project with European Union financing, which is now educating a number of beneficiaries.

To broaden its activities, the society has formed many collaborations, including one with the Jordan River Foundation (JRF) to teach 90 women in needlework and provide them with the option to work from home for a year.

His Majesty King Abdullah stated on Thursday February 2nd that for more than a century, Jerusalem has been a personal concern for Jordan and the Hashemite family rather than a political one.

In his keynote address to the 71st National Prayer Breakfast Gathering in Washington, DC, King Abdullah stated, "for more than a century, we have been entrusted with the Hashemite Custodianship of the city's Muslim and Christian holy sites," noting that the Hashemites' lives have been intertwined with the city's for generations.

In the address, made in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Rania, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II and Her Royal Highness Princess Iman to a number of political, ideological, and religious leaders from the United States and other countries-His Majesty recalled the assassination of his late grandfather, King Abdullah I, on the steps of Jerusalem's Al Aqsa Mosque.

"My father, the future King Hussein, was standing behind his grandfather. He somehow survived the gunfire. "His experience that day, along with his faith in God, resulted in a life-long, relentless quest of peace," the King concluded.

"I remember so vividly how in his last days, he travelled here to DC from Mayo Clinic, amid his chemotherapy treatment, to assist see through a new round of peace talks. "Peace was always attainable and always the priority for him," His Majesty added.

Instead of additional political process, His Majesty stated that "we need our faith: the moral imagination to trust in a better, more just world" to create peace.

"We need the will to see our shared humanity, to rise beyond divisive rhetoric, and to establish the mutual trust that our future so sorely requires," King continued.

His Majesty added, "like our talk today" at the National Prayer Breakfast meeting, which draws together intellectual and political leaders from various religious origins and beliefs.

The occasion also included telepresence remarks from US Vice President Joe Biden and a video greeting from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
