Her Majesty Queen Rania on Monday was in Downtown Amman where she paid a visit to technology start-up Wajeez's offices where she spoke with the Jordanian team behind the app which delivers Arabic speakers written and audio summaries of non-fiction books from around the world.

The co-founders, Mohammad Zatara and Rami Abu Jbara welcomed Her Majesty to the startup’s offices in Amman and was provided her with a brief background of the Wajeez application. The team first created an online bookstore in 2014 known as Faylasoof, but last year, the team shifted tactics and developed Wajeez, a book-summarizing service, which enables users to read or listen to simple 15-minute summaries of worldwide and local textbooks and non-fiction bestsellers.

This app according to Zatara has received over 1.2 million downloads since its inception, with over 800,000 users across the Middle East and North Africa.

Abu Jbara, Wajeez's Chief Content Officer, told the Queen that Wajeez's library offers audio and text summaries of more than 3,000 non-fiction works. The program also gives a free daily book summary. It now includes summaries of more than 50 popular podcasts, which are also available for free via the app's interface.

Her Majesty toured Wajeez’s offices, greeting the startup’s personnel. The company now employs 40 Jordanian full-time employees, as well as a network of roughly 500 freelancers.
